competition bid: We were rewarded with honourable mention in a competition for School design in Kamnik. We made preposition for two, energy efficient primary schools with vast landscape design between them including different sports playgrounds, children playgrounds and agriculture areas for educating purposes. School buildings are placed on location in a way that are preserved all significant historical city views from the park.

Primary school F. Albreht:

We demolished existing old school building and only preserved historical front elevation wall with bridge towards the main street. Behind the preserved wall we build new school with new gym. To retain as much as possible green areas we placed open space parking area under new gym. School building is energy efficient with triple glassed windows (U=0.8 W/m2K), extra isolated walls and roof ( U=0.15 W/m2K). Gym’s side wall and roof design are including solar power plant connected through inverter with city electrical power grid.

Roof is designed to gather rain water which is stored in underground tank and used for toilet flushing. Other energy savings are coming from computer controlled and sensor regulated led lightening and precooling our preheating fresh air gathering and distribution through underground pipe system to the main air-conditioning device.

Building heat increases in summer and reductions in winter are also regulated by appropriate position of the building in relation to the north and south and sensor regulated shading for glass surfaces. Effectiveness of the shading system is also increased with landscape design and with proper selection of deciduous plants. For heating system we planned vertical ground collector system water. Heating source for electrical heat pump is constant temperature of underground water.
